Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick : 'Hooked on Pink' swatch, review and FOTD

Today I’m reviewing Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in shade “Hooked on Pink”.

Maybelline color sensational lipsticks are one of the best lipsticks among the drugstore brands available today. Ever since they launched, they’ve been a popular pick for young girls and women alike because of their wide variety of shades and decent quality and an affordable price.

The shade I have is #65 Hooked on Pink which is a warm fuchsia shade definitely on the brighter side but a more wearable fuchsia for Indian skin tones because of a warm undertone. It is one the shades that I reach out for the most these days. It brightens up my face and I can wear it without foundation and eye makeup too. One of my must-have shades for the summer!

The GOOD about Maybelline Colorsensational lipsticks –
1. Sturdy and chic packaging- I like carrying it with me and doing touch ups cos of this reason 😛 Easy to spot the shade due to colored sticker at the end of the lipstick.
2. Decent moisturization though not as much as Chambor lipsticks.
3. Reasonable staying power of 2-3 hours . Leaves behind tint on fading. Lasts longer if no meals taken in that time.
4. Very affordable pricing and 4.2 g product at Rs 299 . This is one of the biggest pro of this lipstick and one of the reasons why it is so popular especially among young girls.
5. Wide variety of 48 shades to choose from (especially nude shades)
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Maybelline Colorsensational lipsticks-
1. Some of the frosty shades are drying and the shimmer settles in the fine lines and is difficult to take off.
2. Darker shades of wine, plum, brown etc not available in this range as in the Moisture extreme range.
3. Not suitable for dry lips.
Would I repurchase : Yes! Though I won’t need to. Would definitely try out more shades especially nudes since there are lots of them in this range.
Final Verdict : One of the best drugstore brand lipsticks available, it offers smooth texture, decent moisturization and staying power, packaged in a chic and attractive packaging – all for Rs 299 and comes in 45 shades. A must range to explore if you like nude shades. The shade reviewed is a must-have bright pink for me and a must-try for those looking for a wearable bright pink shade but do not buy without trying it on as its not a universal shade and may not be your kind of fuchsia.

Bhumikaaaa!!!no no 1 got 1 nail paint free with the other 2 and mug cause i am regularly bugging them:P and the mug ka dabba is damnnn cute!:P:P and the lippes are sooo nice ! I want the lotus ones cause they are matte! and I am in the bright stained lips phase now.. plus thats long lasting!:P

Is good only its a slightly glossy version of peach creme! which I intended to get initially, but that was reaching expiration date! so I was pissed and left!:X 😛

Na I don’t have My Mahogany. Again find it too light for me..isn’t it? Not a big fan of nude lipsticks..but will check it out for sure. I think toffee cream or something like that is more pigmented than My Mahogany?

I’ve heard a lot about My Mahogany though..will check it out soon. Thanks for the recco. Candy Drop is lovely..I’ve been searching for Cozy Mulberry and I never find it. Candy Drop is available at Big Bazaar at R-city is you want to get it. I’ve seen it there in stock everytime I’ve been there.
My Mahogany is not nude Ankita!! its a very very pretty colour.. 🙂 I think warm me up and the toffee wala will wash us out but not my Mahogany.. I have that and super LOUUUUUU it!!

Candy drop nails..beautiful ankita!!I was at the maybelline counter 2 days back, i saw this shade but felt too bright for me..badly wanted to buy a lipstick and i went to almost all counters..finally picked up Chambor silk pop..luving it!!i thought this wud be simialr to Revlon CB peach but quite diff, i Love both actually!!!If you are looking for a nice real peach shade i would recommend CB peach..perfect for daily use!
Very true Shyna, Hooked on Pink isn’t a universally flattering shade but Chambor Silk touch lipsticks are a class apart ! I only have Silk woods and that’s the only nude shade in my collection. Silk Pop is a coral pinkish shade right? I’ll check it out soon..If its more coral based, I’ll definitely pick it up. It’ll look great in the summers. Revlon CB Peach is such a popular shade..I’ve only seen it on other blogs and it seems a little light for me 😦 What’s your skin tone Shyna? I’m NC40..would Revlon peach suit me?

I have autumn rush. For some reason, I didn’t get any other lippies from this range. I must explore the other shades.
What is Autumn rush like Poohkie? Is it a brown based shade?
On me it looks like a soft, natural pink. But I’ve seen swatches where it looks brown & other blogger said it looked like a nude on her.
I really wanted my mahogany, but it looked completely nude on me, not MLBB. I was so disappointed after others have raved about it.
I couldn’t find it Poohkie. I’ll try some other counters of Maybelline to get hold of it. I’m not that fond of completely nude shades, I like natural pinkish looking shades more.
I like My mahogany from COlorsensational..its not a nude its a brown pink..like MLBB…this one looks nice too..i have the lipgloss version of this…will check out lipstick too

Yes Candy drop is one of my repeted buys from lotus, i got their new brownie glaze too..Ankita, we dont get MAC here so no clue how to tell you about my skin tone, medium fair complexion. Silk Pop is a tad too bright but not OTT, however CB peach seems to be the right peach shade for me.better you try it on lips n then buy!I feel CB and chambor silk touch are exclellent quality wise and ev’one needs to have min one from these!

Its Lotus color dew nail enamel ‘Candy Drop’ Poohkie. Its one of my fav shades 🙂 Also try ‘Cozy Mulberry’ from this range.

Its a very wearable fuchsia shade Aarthi, but do try it on lips before purchasing as its not a very universal shade.

You look gorgeous Ankita! But i tried this shade and it didn’t suit my dusky complexion. Could you suggest some pinks for me? I use lakme face products in ‘marble’ shade.
Thanks Teesta! Since you have dusky complexion ,I suggest you try earthy toned down pink shades..one of my favs is Revlon Colorburst ‘Rosy Nude’. You can also try Bourjois Sweet kiss Naturel no. #8 and Lotus pure color ‘Pink Blush’. In general, look out for brownish pink shades instead of popping pink..they wud look gorgeous on your complexion 🙂
