Plummy brown smokey eyes look: Makeup Breakdown
Hi everyone!
This is a plummy brown smokey eye look what I wore yesterday. To those who’ve been following me on Facebook would have seen this look yesterday. It is a neutral smokey eye paired with a warm nude lipstick and blush. This is one of the looks that can be worn with any outfit regardless of color. Read post on “Makeup looks to suit every outfit” HERE.
Summary of the look :
For the eyes, apply kohl on lid as base and smudge, apply plummy brown (or any neutral shade) eyeshadow all over lid and blend at the crease. Apply compact under the brows, kohl smudged with the same eyeshadow on lower lash line and finish off with mascara. Moisturize face well before eye makup and apply concealer, foundation and compact after completing eye makeup. Apply a warm blush under the cheekbones and blend upwards. Apply a nude lipstick with a warm undertone to finish the look. Alternatively, you can use a cool toned blush and pair with a nude lipstick with a pink undertone.

Quick eye makeup Tutorial : Smoldering Summer eyes FOTDs
Hi everyone!
Today I’m doing a tutorial on a very simple eye makeup that I love wearing. I like to call it ‘Smoldering Summer eyes‘.
The basic idea is to frame the upper and lower lash line + water line with kohl /black smudgy eye pencil and then smudge and set with an eye shadow like brown/gray/blue/green..(you can use whichever shade you want ). The result is smoldering look which can be paired with a subtle lipstick/gloss for everyday wear. I’ve been wearing this look a lot lately and experimenting with different colored eye shadows to smudge the kohl.
Time it takes : 5-7 min. No precision is required since its a soft smudgy look with no precise lines.
What you require :
1. Kohl/kajal/smudgy black eye pencil
I’ve used : FACES kajal
2. Dark eye shadow shade of your choice ( My personal favorites are blue, gray and brownish purple)
I’ve used : Coastal Scents 88 original palette– shade as shown (for the first eye) , Bourjois ombre stretch eye shadow Navy blue shade (for other eye)
3. Any brush with slightly stiff bristles to smudge the kohl and apply the eye shadow
I’ve used : An unbranded brush that cost me only Rs 30/-
4. Compact (for applying on the under eye area. Powdering the under eye area prevents the kajal from smudging and bleeding to a large extent)
I’ve used: Chambor Silver shadow compact ‘RR2 Rose Pale’
5. Mascara (optional)
TUTORIAL
If you wish to apply concealer, apply it before the first step.
Step 1 – Apply thick line with the kohl on the upper lash line and water line.
Step 2- Smudge the line using the brush on upper lash line and lower lash line.
Step 3– Apply eye shadow of desired shade on top of the smudged liner. This will have the following benefits
i. It will set the kajal/kohl and prevent it from smudging. The powder will absord the oils/moisture that cause smudging.
ii. It will add to the soft look of this makeup.
iii. Colored shadows will make it more interesting. You can experiment with different colors and combinations (I tried with navy blue and added a little maroon/red from the CS palette- resulted in a beautiful plum-purple shade! )
Step 4– Add finishing touches. The shade seemed a little dull to me so I picked up some red-maroon shade from the Coastal Scents palette and blended it with the gray-brown and winged it lightly.
Pat some powder in the under eye area and finish with mascara. Smoldering Summer eyes are done!
I have done the right using dark blue eyeshadow.
I’m only wearing compact and Nivea fruity shine lip balm in ‘Strawberry’ in the following picture –
I’ve used the frosty grey-taupe shade from Colorbar warm palette to smudge the kohl in the following picture –
Also worn it in my review of Lakme pure rouge blusher ‘Rose Crush ‘ (I did mention I’ve been wearing it a LOT lately!! ). Used navy blue shade of Bourjois ombre stretch eye shadow here.
How to make it last longer –
If you have oily lids, this is important for you. The makeup should look smoftly smoked and smoldering but not messy !
1. Prime your lids ( eye primer/ paint pot/ concealer or foundation topped with compact powder)
2. Powder under eye area and tear duct area well. This really helps!
My lids are not very oily but my kajal does run a bit without proper setting with eyeshadow/compact. This makeup however lasted the entire day (8-9 hours) with little fading and a little bit of smudging near the tear duct (I had forgotten to powder that area).

Spring/Summer look#10: MAC Vimi Joshi inspired Bubble gum Pink look
Hi everyone!
Today I’m doing a Bubble gum pink look inspired by MAC Senior Artist Vimi Joshi’s Hot Bubble Gum Pink look ( Quite Cute Collection) recently posted on Twitter by the artist herself. Click HERE to see the inspiration behind this look.
The products used By Vimi J to create this look are from the MAC Quite cute collection. I’ve tried to recreate the look using whatever products I had. Some of the colors(like the lip color) haven’t come out quite right but I enjoyed doing this look! I wouldn’t have normally worn a white+pink combination of eye shadows but I loved the look Vimi Joshi created!
Here’s the final look :
Products used :
EYES :
1. MAC Select moisture cover concealer NC 45.5
2. NYX Jumbo pencil ‘Milk’
3. Coastal scents 88 palette (pink and white shades)
4. FACES Sparkle dust #38
5. MAC Smolder
6. Maybelline colossal volume mascara
7. Brushes : MAC 222(blending) , FACES eye shadow brush
Steps :
1. Conceal under eye and apply over the lid also to cover pigmentation.
2. Let the concealer set for a few minutes. Apply NYX jumbo pencil in ‘Milk’ over inner 1/2 of the lid and smudge slightly with a brush.
3. Pat white eye shadow over it to set it (#1 shadow from the Coastal Scents palette shown above).
4. Take the magenta pink shades (#2 and #3 shadows) and apply on outer half of lid and till above crease. Also apply the same on the lower lash line. (I have used 2 shades to get the desired intensity and shade of color). Blend it at the crease and with the white eye shadow to give a smooth transition and to avoid any harsh lines.
5. Pat a little of the Sparkle dust (translucent with pinkish purple shimmer) on the white eye shadow inner half of the lid. Use compact powder under the brows.
6. Apply MAC Smolder (kohl) on waterline. Finish with 2 coats of mascara.
FACE :
1. MAC Studio fix fluid foundation NC 40
2. Chambor Silver shadow compact ‘RR2 Rose Pale’
3. Colorbar blush- ‘Crimson Rose’
4. Brushes – MAC 188 (foundation), The Body Shop face and body brush(compact) and The Body Shop blush brush
LIPS :
Mixed 2 shades of lipsticks to get a cool toned bright pink lip – didn’t quite get it exact but quite close- Maybelline Colorsensational ‘Hooked on Pink’ and Chambor Silk Touch ‘Silk star’ lipsticks.
Final look :
In different lighting mode-
Hope you liked the look 🙂

Spring/Summer look#9 : Experiment with NYX ‘Yellow’ Jumbo pencil
Hi everyone!
This is an experiment I tried using NYX Jumbo eye pencil in the shade ‘Yellow‘. I wanted a yellow all over lid color with a hint of blue at the outer corner and crease but instead it turned out a milky-white with a hint of yellow and blue.
I paired the eye makeup with a bright pink lipstick for a colorful spring/summer look. This is definitely not a subtle look but the lighter (milky-white-yellow) shade in combination with the blue gives a bright look to the eyes. I’d pair this look with a monochrome outfit in greyed down shades of blue, green or safer neutral shades- balck, white and beige.
