Lotus herbals MAXLASH botanicals mascara Review + photos
Hi everyone!!
Today I’m reviewing LOTUS HERBALS maxlash botanical mascara. I’m very fond of Lotus Herbals products where it is skincare or makeup and after having a more than satisfactory experience with the lipsticks, compact and glosses, I decided to pick up the mascara since I was in need of one some time back. The only mascara I had used prior to this was Maybelline colossal volume mascara and while I liked it very much, I wanted to explore more. Sadly though, Lotus herbals MAXLASH mascara did not fulfill my expectations. Read on further to know why…
Price: Rs 245
Quantity: 4 g
What the packaging says about the product :
(I’d opened the package in a hurry to try it, hence the torn packaging )
Ingredients listed on the outer covering : (see pic above)
My take on the product:
It comes in a black tube packaging with a slighter thicker mid section with silver band. The packaging is neither very attractive nor too bad. The brush on the other hand is NOT good. For one thing it picks up too much product which accumulates on the lashes while applying giving a clumped look. It does lengthen the eye lashes significantly though.
The brush is not too dense like other volumizing mascara, it has tiny plastic teeth spaced at a moderate distance. The brush is flexible and can bend (as shown) to fit the contour of the eye lashes. The concept is good but it doesn’t really bend like that and application doesn’t feel very different from that of a non-flexible brush.
Formula: The formula is too runny. I prefer gel like formulas that don’t look too wet on the lashes and dry fast. This one takes a while to dry. The first time I applied it, I did not realise it was so wet and I applied compact on my face with a big brush and some of the mascara transferred to my skin. The good part is that you need to wipe it with a cotton/tissue and it gets removed easily without messing up that area of the skin. The runny formula and the brush together manage to clump my eye lashes together and then lengthen those clumps to give an open look to the eyes which looks nice when seen from far but close up it does not look good!
It is waterproof and stays on all day and gets removed very easily with a mild cleanser. I don’t like using oil based cleansers and prefer Cetaphil on makeup removal as well. This one comes off easily with Cetaphil 🙂
The GOOD about Lotus herbals MAXLASH botanicals mascara-
1. Lengthens eye lashes significantly.
2. Color is jet black.
3. Waterproof, stays on all day.
4. the brush and formula are not perfect but make it easy to apply
5. Removes easily with cleanser without tugging or pulling.
6. Very reasonably priced.
7. Contains botanical extracts.
8. Feels very comfortable on lashes.
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Lotus herbals MAXLASH botanicals mascara-
1. The brush picks up a lot of product and clumps the eye lashes together.
2. The formula is too runny.
3. Takes a minute to dry on the lashes.
4. Does not separate the lashes, barely volumizes.
Overall Verdict: It is one of the most reasonably priced mascara out there in the market and while it gives a lot of length and decent volume to the lashes, the brush and formula need a lot of improvement. The formula is too runny, taken some time to dry and the brush picks up a lot of product and clumps lashes together. It is waterproof , feels very comfortable on the lashes and comes off easily with a mild cleanser also which is a big plus point for me. Might work for those with very sparse lashes.
I don’t like the clumping but it does feel very comfortable to wear and gives nice length so I’m wearing it on a regular basis but would not recommend it unless you have sparse lashes. Maybelline colossal volume is a better option at around the same price.
Rating: 2.5/5
Will I repurchase: No

Revlon colorstay mineral finishing powder ‘Sunkiss Radieux’ Review, swatch and FOTD
Hi everyone!
Today I’m reviewing one my favorite products- one you have seen me use very often in my looks- Revlon colorstay mineral finishing powder ‘Sunkiss Radieux‘. Basically, this product is a bronzer containing very fine bronze colored shimmer particles which can be used in many different ways.
Story behind my purchase: This is one of my earliest makeup purchases. I’d just started reading about makeup and the products I was really fascinated with were ‘bronzer’ and ‘highlighter’. I was Beauty Centre, Khar and I asked the Colorbar SA for a bronzer. She did not understand what I meant by ‘bronzer’ but the Revlon SA at the next counter heard me and directed me to her counter where she showed me this product. Now what I was actually looking for a contouring powder but I did not know what to call it then, so I just kept referring it to as bronzer. The moment she showed me this product, I was mesmerized by the baked finish and the bronze and brown veining in the product! It was expensive but since I was shopping with my Mum she told me to take it. The Revlon SA also showed me a highlighter by the name of illuminating powder but that was quite expensive too so I decided to just pick up the bronzer.
Price: Around 1400-1500
Quantity: 8.79 g
Packaging says: All over enhancing color in a talc-free mineral formula with Colorstay longwear.
My experience with the product :
Packaging: It comes in a square packaging with the baked powder sitting in a dome shape at the centre and a transparent lid on the top. The packaging is sturdy, travel friendly and the transparent lid allows the user to see the bronzer. I find the packaging very attractive! The quantity provided is a lot..8.79 gms and it has lasted me 6 months now and will easily do many more. The product was dome shaped when I had purchased it but with use it has flattened down.
The only con is that no brush or mirror is provided with it.
Ingredients: The product is not listed on the website and no information is given on the product except for ‘talc-free’ and ‘mineral’ formula. But it has never irritated my oily acne prone sensitive skin. I find it very comfortable and light to wear.
Formula: The formula is like that of the baked powder hence they are better compacted than normal powders having a harder surface. But the product is smooth and picks up very uniformly with a brush, sponge or even fingertips. The shimmer is very fine and not chunky and is not visible easily. It is just there is a micro form to add a satiny sheen to the skin. The color is a perfect mix of bronze-brown with an orange undertone and wud suit all skin tones beautifully.
This is my most used product hands down after sunscreen, kajal and lip balm and I tend to reach out for it everytime I do a warm toned makeup. Even with cool toned makeup, I use this just on the cheekbones for a bit of subtle highlighting. It is pigmented but not too pigmented and hence it is easy to use especially for beginners and the pigmentation can be built up. The different colored veining does not hinder the useability or alter the color of the product. Brush picks up uniform color.
WAYS TO USE THIS PRODUCT:
1. As blush on apples to cheeks and blended towards hairline.
2. Under the cheekbones and blended towards the apples of the cheeks.
3. As highlighter on cheekbones.
4.All over the face for a bronzed glow.
I generally use it as a blush using a brush and after applying it on the cheeks, I use the leftover product on the brush on the entire face.
Staying power : Used as a blush it lasts a long time. I’ve never worn it more than for more than 6-7 hours but I feel it can last even more than that. Fades evenly with time and the warm glow still remains on the face.
The GOOD about Revlon colorstay mineral finishing powder ‘Sunkiss Radieux’
1. Sturdy, attractive, travel friendly packaging.
2. Attractive product with baked finish showing bronze-brown veining.
3. Texture is smooth, pigmentation is good with buildable intensity.
4. Gives a warm glow to the skin that looks natural.
5. Shimmer is very fine and shows up only as a sheen on the cheeks.
6. Does make my oily skin look too shiny or accentuate the pores.
7. Coverage and color intensity is buildable- easy to use for beginners.
8. Multipurpose- use as blush, highlighter, all over face finishing powder.
9. Talc free and mineral based.
10. Stays on skin for a long time.
The NOT SO GOOD about Revlon colorstay mineral finishing powder ‘Sunkiss Radieux’
1. No brush or mirror with packaging.
2.Ingredients not given, product not listed on the site.
3. Expensive. But since the product itself is so awesome and it’ll last me a long long time, I find the price justified.
Here is how it looks on me –
Overall Verdict: Its a baked mineral powder with a bronze finish that can be used as blush, highlighter or all over the face for a subtle glow. The formula is brilliant and pigmentation can be built up for a more intense look. Comes in a very attractive packaging which is sturdy and travel friendly but lacks a mirror and brush. The shade will work well for all skin tones. Seems expensive but the product is excellent in quality as well as quantity and last a long time.
Will I repurchase: Yes!
Rating: 4.5/5

EYE PRIMER : BeYu eye base Review and swatches
Hi everyone!
Today I’m reviewing BeYu eye base which is basically a primer for eye makeup. I had a lot of requests to review this product and I’m sorry for have taken so long to review it! Few months back, when I’d just started with makeup, some google research led me on a hunt for an eye primer. To my surprize and disappointment, most SAs at Revlon, Maybelline, Chambor, Lakme, Maxfactor, Bourjois etc had never even heard of eye primer or eye base. Finally, one SA told to me go try the BeYu counter at Pantaloons.
Before this time, I’d never heard of BeYu before. BeYu is a German cosmetic brand that has just started selling its products in India. The price range is similar to Bourjois price range. The SA at BeYu promptly showed me this eye base and at first glance I was a little disappointed by the look of the tiny silver tube. I’d expected something fancier. And on top of that this tiny tube cost me Rs 450!
But all that disappointment was forgotten when I started using the product. Now to the review..
Price: Rs 450
Quantity: 7 ml
Formula : It is a semi -transparent champagne colored runny gel-like product that comes packaged in a small silver tube with a screw on cap. The consistency is thin and light, almost like a liquid and it spreads very easily. It gets absorbed within a few seconds of application leaving behind no color and some shimmer.
A very tiny amount is required to cover the entire lid and lower lash line. Initially, I’d end up taking more more product than needed but after using it a few times, you get the idea of how much is needed. The product has lasted me about 7 months and there is still some left (i guess 😛 don’t know since the tube is opaque).
Few days back, the tube had started oozing out a very thin runny liquid every time I tried using it, I thought maybe the product melted in the summers, but it got back to its normal consistency soon. I’m guessing the formula probably separated into liquid and gel. This could be either because the formula is not very stable or because the SA gave me an old product.
Why use eye primer/eye base :
1. It helps the eye makeup stay on longer.
2. It prevents creasing of eyeshadows.
3. Prevents fall out from eyeshadows.
4. Makes eyeshadow and even liners appear more vibrant and pigmented.
5. Delays fading of eyeshadows/liners.
How to apply BeYu eye base:
Just squeeze a tiny amount (shown in the picture) on the third finger and apply it on the lid and light sweeping motion and take it up to the browbone. Apply the remaining product on the finger to inner corners and lower lash line too.
The GOOD about BeYu eye base:
1. Consistency is very light- almost liquid like- spreads very easily.
2. Makes eyeshadows appear more vibrant and pigmented.
3. Helps eyeshadows stay on longer without creasing and fading.
4. Controls fall out from eyeshadows.
5.A very tiny amount is needed to cover entire eye area- product lasts a long time
6. The packaging is sturdy
7. Price justifies the quantity and quality.
The NOT-SO-GOOD about BeYu eye base:
1. Excess product squeezed out leads to wastage.
2. The product contains shimmer which does not look good with sublte matte looks.
3. Formula not very stable – separates into liquid and gel after some time (or maybe I got an old packaging)
Overall Verdict: I feel everyone who uses eyeshadows should use a primer underneath and this is one of the few primers available in the Indian market under Rs 500. The product is very light, spreads very easily and a small quantity is required in each application. It helps eyeshadows stay longer, brings out their color and pigmentation and prevents creasing and fading. The packaging could be better and the formula can be improved to eliminate the shimmer and improve the consistency.

Will I repurchase : Not right now. Not because its not a good product but because I want to try MAC paint pot.
Mango Mania and a little bit of champagne : My first Avon purchase
Hi everyone!
I recently made my first Avon purchase and I’m loving each and every product I bought. I picked up 3 nail paints from the Simply Pretty range taking advantage of the offer- ‘Sweet Pink’ , ‘Champagne Shimmer‘ and ‘Mango Mania‘. Also picked up a lipstick from the Simply Pretty range ‘Mango Mania‘. My Avon representative Jinal also gave me Avon Naturals Wild apple and grape hand and body lotion as a free gift with my purchases. Thank you Jinal 🙂
Mango Mania is a coral-brick shade that instantly brings warmth to the face. Its neither too bright nor too dull, just has the right amount of orange tone and looks beautiful worn as it is. It is the sort of shade that’ll suit all skin tones. Thank you Natasha for recommending this shade to me 🙂
Price: Rs 125
Quantity : 4 g
Mini Review : The texture is smooth but not too soft, its not very moisturizing) and will not suit people with dry lips. The staying power is good – easily lasts 3-4 hours with meals in between and an even tint remains on the after 4 hours too. The packaging is not so attractive but I don’t mind that at this price. The shade is mentioned in small font at one end of the lipstick so to identify a particular shade- you need to go through each label. The pigmentation is good and coverage is medium in single swipe and can be built up to opaque intense color in 2-3 swipes. Th finish is almost matte but not drying.
At Rs 125, its a steal! And I highly recommend this particular shade to everyone.
Rating: 4.5/5
Will I repurchase: Yes.
This is what I wore today. You can share your makeup breakdown of the day with me on Facebook by clicking HERE.
I’m currently wearing the nail paint ‘Champagne Shimmer’ from the 3 nail paints I purchased. I picked up 3 nail paints for Rs 105 from the May catalog. As the name suggests, it is a champagne color with evenly distributed fine shimmer in it. Single coat gives a sheer coverage and double coat builds up the shimmer for a full coverage opaque look. I have worn the nail paint for 2 days now without top or base coat and there’s been no chipping yet. It gives a fairer and glamorous look to the hands. The shimmer is not subtle but its not too blingy either.

p.s- I’m trying out a new theme on the blog. I find it livelier and peppier than the last one. What do you think? Let me know your comments and suggestions.
