Plummy brown smokey eyes look: Makeup Breakdown
Hi everyone!
This is a plummy brown smokey eye look what I wore yesterday. To those who’ve been following me on Facebook would have seen this look yesterday. It is a neutral smokey eye paired with a warm nude lipstick and blush. This is one of the looks that can be worn with any outfit regardless of color. Read post on “Makeup looks to suit every outfit” HERE.
Summary of the look :
For the eyes, apply kohl on lid as base and smudge, apply plummy brown (or any neutral shade) eyeshadow all over lid and blend at the crease. Apply compact under the brows, kohl smudged with the same eyeshadow on lower lash line and finish off with mascara. Moisturize face well before eye makup and apply concealer, foundation and compact after completing eye makeup. Apply a warm blush under the cheekbones and blend upwards. Apply a nude lipstick with a warm undertone to finish the look. Alternatively, you can use a cool toned blush and pair with a nude lipstick with a pink undertone.

Heavy kohl lined eyes with red lips FOTD
Hi everyone!
Few days back one of the readers AD asked me if heavy kohl lined eyes would look good with red lips with reference to the eye makeup worn by Kareena Kapoor in Kurbaan. I tried the look today and I quite liked the effect! Thanks AD!
The kohl looked heavier and darker than how it is appearing in the picture.
Summary of the look :
On a well moisturized face, conceal required areas, apply foundation and set with compact powder. For the eyes, apply light brown matte eyeshadow all over lid, apply heavy kohl on lower lash line and brown pencil on upper lash line and finish with mascara. Apply matte brown blush under the cheekbones and fill in lips with red lipstick using a brush for precise application.
Products used for eye makeup :
EYES:
1. MAC Select moisture cover concealer NC 45.5
2. MAC Smolder (on water line and lower lash line)
3. Bourjois kohl and contour pencil ‘Brun expressif’ (dark brown shade)
4. Coastal Scents 88 eyeshadow palette
5. The Body Shop smudging brush
Steps :
1. Apply concealer under the eyes as well as on the lids. Blend well and set with compact.
2. Apply matte light brown eye shadow all over the lid.
3. Using MAC Smolder (or any other blackest black liner) apply a thick line on the waterline and smudge it with black eyeshadow on the lower lash line with a smudging brush. This will set the kohl and prevent it from smudging and giving raccoon eyes.
4. Line upper lash line with a medium thick line using matte brown liner pencil.
5. Finish off with mascara.
FACE:
1. The Body Shop oil free foundation ’06’
2. Chambor Silver shadow compact ‘RR2 Rose pale’
3. Colorbar ‘Just Earth’ blush(applied lightly under the cheekbones)
4. The Body Shop sponge
LIPS:
Revlon colorburst lipstick ‘Crimson’
Vega lip filler brush

‘Barely Feline’ look: Quick makeup with cat eyes and nude lips
Hi everyone!
Today I’m doing a cat eyes- nude lips look that can be worn in the daytime or evening and takes under 10 minutes to do. The only skill required is eye liner application to do the ‘cat’ eyes to add some oomph and drama to an otherwise regular look. Apart from the eyes, the look is very clean, fresh and simple with nude gloss and a hint of bronzer, hence I call it the ‘Barely Feline‘ look.
Cat eyes have been in trend for quite a while now and are a favorite with celebrities like Angeline Jolie, Taylor Swift, Rihanna to name a few. Pair it with nude lips or a dramatic pout, either way cat eyes give a glamorous touch to the face.
Summary of the look :
On a well moisturized face, conceal required areas and apply light foundation, set with powder. Using liquid/gel eye liner, apply thick line on upper lash line and wing it outwards and upwards (as shown). Apply kohl starting from inner corner all the way to the outer corner and join it with the wing to frame the eye. Apply nude natural pink gloss and a little bronzer under the cheekbones for a perfect summer look.
Some tips to get perfect cat eyes :
1. Frame the entire eyes, do not leave out the ends/corners. Start kohl at the inner corner and take it right to the outer corner. Tightline the eyes fully. Start eye liner application for upper lash line also from the inner corner.
2. Do not draw a very thin line. Keep the line medium/thick for the desired ‘cat’ eyes effect. Increase the thickness of the line as you move outwards. Thus the line should be thickest at the outer most corner.
3. Join the bottom of the ‘wing’ to the lower lash line for a continuous frame around the eyes.
4. Can add a little highlighter in the inner corners of the eyes for an extra pop of brightness to the eyes. (I have used a shimmery eyeshadow in the inner corners here)
5. Lastly, Practice eye liner application to get a perfect wing. It is not difficult at all and takes 4-5 trials to get it perfect.
Products used :
1. EYES : Maybelline drama gel liner, MAC Smolder kohl, Maybelline colossal volume mascara, Marie claire shimmery eyeshadow at inner corner
2. FACE: MAC Select moisture cover concealer NC 45.5, MAC Studio fix fluid foundation, Chambor silver shadow compact, Revlon sunkiss radieux (bronzer)
3. LIPS : Bourjois nouveau effet gloss 3D ’03 Brun rose academic’
Final look :
