Packaging:  The compact comes in a dark blue and white cardboard box which contains a refill pan as well. The casing of the compact itself is very beautiful and classy. It is navy blue/silver  triangular shaped with the trademark chambor rose on the top side and the name, shade and quantity on the underside.  It has a tiny hole at its underside. By inserting a pin through this hole, the used pan can be removed and replaced by the refill pan. the refill pan comes in a transparent polythene cover, further wrapped in a card sheet envelope and a foam-like sheet. It comes with a good quality mirror and a round  puff type applicator. Application is easy and typical of any other compact powder.

Texture : It is a compact pressed powder and feels silky and smooth to touch. It it not chalky or loose compressed. It blends very well when applied on the face and gives a smooth, matte look.  The powder has a mild fragrance which  disappears when applied the face.

Chambor silver shadow compact with puff

Coverage: Being a compact, it gives sheer coverage and hides my blemishes and pigmentation to some extent. Can be used alone or over foundation. Very little quantity is required to cover the whole face and neck. On a daily basis, I just use this over my moisturizer and I’m good to go. However, in winters, if I do not moisturize well, it tends to highlight the dry patches on my face but that is something any powder would do.

Chambor silver shadow compact : swatch- swiped and blended

Staying power: I have a very oily T-zone and inner cheeks and it controls oil effectively upto 4-5  hours  and even after travelling and being out in the sun, my face retains a fresh look. It is oil free and non-comodogenic and hasn’t broken out my sensitive/acne prone/combination skin at all. It does not contain SPF though.

Shade selection : It comes in 4 shades : from lightest- RR1 Ivoire , RR2 Rose Pale , RR3 Sable , RR5 Noisette. I feel the shade selection is quite limited especially for duskier skin tones. I am NC 37/40 in MAC and I was matched with RR5 by one SA and RR2 by another. RR2 and RR3 shades are almost similar except that RR2 has a pinkish undertone whereas RR3 has a yellowish undertone. My mum is NC41 and uses the RR5 shade.

Though the SA was convinced RR2 is the shade for me, I applied RR2 and RR3 on one half of my face each at the counter and 4 hours later when I came home, my skin still looked quite fresh and though the shades looked very similar on my face, I went ahead with the RR2 because of the pinkish undertone.

The GOOD about Chambor Silver Shadow compact powder :

1. Smooth silky texture, is not chalky or too powdery

2. Blends beautifully on the skin with minimal effort

3. Controls oil and gives fresh look to face for 4-5 hours

4. Non comodogenic and oil free- hasn’t broken me out at all.

5.  Little quantity is required- comes with a refill pan and thus will last a long time. 32 g quantity and quality at this price is justified

6. Sturdy and classy packaging.  Comes with a mirror and good quality puff for application. It is something I would like to carry in my purse and like to do touch ups with when I’m in company 😛

7. Can be worn alone over moisturizer or with foundation- works perfectly well either way

8. Water resistant- this claim is true, even after being out in the sun and sweating a little, my face still looked fresh and matte.

9. No animal ingredients and complete list of ingredients given.

10. Dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested.

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Chambor Silver Shadow compact powder:

1. No SPF

2. Limited shade selection especially for duskier skin tones.

3. Contains parabens.

4. The mild fragrance might not be liked by some people.

Final verdict : It is great compact for daily wear especially for oily/combination skinned ladies who don’t wear foundation everyday but need something for slight coverage and smooth matte look. It is oil free, does not clog pores and controls oil upto 4-5 hours. The packaging is sturdy, easy to carry and classy looking.

One package (Compact +refill pan) will last a long time as very little is required for entire face and neck. The price might ‘feel’ steep if compared to Maybelline white stay and Lakme perfect radiance compacts but I’d rate this compact better than the others in terms of value for money- at least in case of  Maybelline whitestay UV (which I have used and hit pan). Moreover, it contains a lot of product 16 g x 2 i.e 32 g whereas the other ones contain about 8 g of product.

Will I repurchase this? This pack will last me 4-5 months easily but when it gets over, I will !

Rating : 4.25/5 (for reasons listed above)

Chambor Truly Lasting lipstick : Review , Swatches and FOTDs

Hi everyone!

Today I am reviewing one of my favorite lipsticks- Chambor Truly Lasting lipstick

Chambor truly lasting lipstick

Price : Rs 525 or 550

Quantity : 1.9 g ( on an average lipsticks  are in the range 3.7-4.5 g )

What the Chambor website says :

Chambor Truly lasting Lipsticks have a long-wearing formula with shea butter sunscreen and vitamins A & E that pamper and comfort while creating maximum color impact and helps lips look smooth and even. It is delicately fragranced with a fresh scent and packaged in a striking, sophisticated case which is quite chic.

So steal the show with Chambor Truly Lasting Lipsticks…
For colour that lasts and lasts and lasts…
and for lips that surprise you, every time!!

A Stylish Extra Long Lipstick which moisturizes, conditions & protects lips.
Ingredients:

  • Shea Butter (Nourishes the lips. Good for dehydrated and dry lips).
  • Vitamin A (Hydration).
  • Vitamin – E (Anti – Ageing).
  • SPF – 15.

Features:

  • It has a rich creamy shiny texture & gives a glossy finish.
  • Water Resistant : Long Lasting Effect.
  • Triple Action Formula.
  • Regular use o makes the Lips Soft & Healthy.
  • No Animal Ingredients.
  • Non – Comodogenic. “

Packaging : Chambor Truly lasting lipstick comes in a long thin navy blue casing with a thin silver metal band in the centre , shade name at one end and the trademark Chambor rose at the other end. The casing is thickest in the centre and tapers off towards the ends. Inside, the lipstick is housed in a thin silver casing.

I find the packaging very chic and different from normal lipsticks the only drawback being that the only way to distinguish between shades is to read the labels. I own 3 lipsticks from this range #911 Truly Nutty, #916 Truly terracotta,  #924 Truly Brownsugar.

Chambor truly lasting lipstick

Chambor truly lasting lipstick- size comparison with Revlon Colorburst

Chambor truly lasting lipstick

Texture: The texture is very soft and creamy (though not as creamy as newly launched Chambor Silk Touch lipsticks. Read review HERE ). They glide on lips like lip butter and give a moisturized feel and look to the lips. As the info from the website says- it contains shea butter which is responsible for the nourishing effect of these lipsticks.

Pigmentation : They are very pigmented and give full coverage which is buildable. Because of their smooth texture, they can be sheered out with lip balm to give only a tint.

Finish : They have neither matte nor shimmery. They give a glossy moisturized look to the lips which is typical of creamy moisturizing lipsticks.

Ingredients : They don’t come with an outer carton unlike the Silk touch range which has a complete list of ingredients on the outer carton. The website only gives a partial list of ingredients.

Staying Power: The name itself says truly lasting and the website also claims long wearing. I have found their staying power 4-5 hours with mild eating and drinking. However, since they are creamy, they tend to transfer to cups/glasses.  When they fade, they leave an even tint on the lips and don’t settle into fine lines after a long time.

Scent: The scent of these lipsticks reminds me of freshly baked cookies. It is not an overpowering scent but its not very mild either. People who like their lipsticks  unscented might not like it.

Shade Selection: They have wide shade selection of 21 shades covering browns, pinks, corals, mauves and darker shades too (from website).

The GOOD about Chambor ‘Truly Lasting  Lipsticks’

  • Very moisturizing, Gives smooth, healthy gloss to lips on application
  • Super soft, smooth creamy texture , glide easily on lips
  • Good pigmentation with buildable coverage
  • Stays put for 4-5 hours even after mild eating/drinking
  • Contains shea butter, Vitamin A,E
  • SPF 15
  • Fades evenly leaving tint on lips
  • Does not settle in creases, fine lines
  • Does not bleed or feather
  • Feels light on lips, comfortable to wear
  • Non-comodogenic, water resistant
  • Contains no animal ingredients, not tested on animals

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Chambor ‘Truly Lasting Lipsticks’

  • Quantity is too less..1.9 g is half of the average quantity of lipsticks (3.7-4.5 g)
  • Cannot tell the shade of the lipstick from the container as their is no color sticker or glass top on the cap
  • Pricey for such less quantity
  • Incomplete list of ingredients

Lipsticks I own from Truly Lasting range :

#911 Truly Terracotta, #911 Truly Nutty and  #924 Truly Brownsugar.

L-R: Terracotta, Nutty, Brownsugar

Swatches:

Without flash :L-R: Terracotta, Nutty, Brownsugar (single swipe on left and double swipe right)

With flash L-R: Terracotta, Nutty, Brownsugar (single swipe on left, double swipe on right )

About #911 Truly Terracotta

It is a red-brown shade that worn sheerly gives a very pretty tint to the lips. This shade always brightens up my face even when worn without foundation/eye makeup.

Truly Terracotta (sheer)

Truly Terracotta: full coverage

About #916 Truly Nutty

Its a deep mauve with earthy pink undertones. Worn sheerly its doesn’t show a lot since my lips have mauve undertones.  I think it would work very well with Indian skin tones because of the earthy pink undertone. I find this shade very different from the regular pinks ,nudes and browns.

Truly Nutty

Truly Nutty

About #924 Truly Brownsugar

It is a pure medium brown shade with no pink ,red or mauve undertone that looks too dark on me when worn with full coverage but is great for mixing lipsticks. I always reach for it when I want to tone down a lipstick/gloss with a brown undertone to suit my complexion. Looks especially good when you are wearing heavy/colorful  eyemakeup and don’t want to go completely nude on the lips and pink/mauve is not matching with the eyemakeup.

Truly Brownsugar (sheer)

Truly Brownsugar

Final Verdict:  It combines great pigmentation, decent lasting power and wide shade selection with Chambor’s speciality of creamy smooth textured lipsticks. Contains shea butter, Vit A, Vit E and SPF 15 that moisturizes, heals and protects lips. However, the quantity is too less for the price.

Will I repurchase it ? No. I liked them enough to buy 2 more shades after my initial purchase of #911 Truly Terracotta but now that Chambor has come up with Silk Touch range, I would buy those because of creamier texture and 4.5 g quantity for similar price.

Rating : 4/5

Hi everyone!

Today I am reviewing ‘Silk Touch Lipstick‘ from ‘Chambor‘ in shade #670 ‘Silk Woods‘.

Chambor is one of my favorite makeup brands and I find their lipsticks one of the best I’ve used so far.  It is a highly underrated and undermarketed brand but their products are a pleasure to use.

Info from the new Chambor website (Earlier there was limited info available at Baccarose Cosmetics website )

It has the shade number and name printed on end and the other end is blank. It has a silver rose on the cap as in the pic which is the trademark of Chambor products.

The lipstick tip is curved to fit with the curve of the lips for easier application. I find the packaging very elegant but there’s no way to determine which shade is inside from outside which is a drawback.

Outer Carton- Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick

Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick

Texture: The most special thing about Chambor lipsticks is their texture. They are super soft and glide on the lips like butter.

Pigmentation: They are very pigmented and give full coverage in a single swipe. Since they are so soft , they can be mixed with lip balm to give just a tint also.

Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick - 'Silk woods'

Finish: They are matte finish but since they are so creamy, they give a very moisturized almost slighly glossy look to the lips on application. They don’t feel heavy on the lips and are very comfortable to wear.

Moisturization: They are highly moisturizing and even after few hours of application, lips feel soft.

Ingredients: They contain Beeswax, Shea Butter, Castor oil and other waxes as well which explains their moisturization properties.

Ingredient - Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick

Staying Power: The SA claimed that these are long wearing but I’m not sure about how long wearing they are. I would guess upto 4 hours max since they are so creamy. I had a meal while I had it on and 2-3 hours later, it was still there. When they fade, they leave an even tint on the lips and don’t settle into fine lines after a long time. Don’t feather or bleed though cannot say for sure about the darker shades but it is always better to wear with lip liner.

Scent: The scent of these lipsticks reminds me of freshly baked cookies. It is not an overpowering scent but its not very mild either. People with sensitive olfactory senses who like their lipsticks  to be unscented might not like it.

Shade Selection: They have 18 shades covering browns, pinks, mauves and darker shades too (from website). Chambor lipsticks in general have shades that never look too garish or OTT. I think almost all shades would suit Indian skin tones well as most of them have a brownish or pinkish undertone.

About shade #670 ‘Silk Woods’ : It is a nude shade with an earthy pink undertone. Single swipe gives full pigmentation and coverage as you can see in the swatches below. This shade should suit most Indian skin tones upto maybe NC 42.  Duskier skin tones might find it a tad light for them. I find this to be the perfect nude shade for me( I am NC 37/40 in MAC )

Here’s how it looks on me. I am not wearing lip liner or gloss, only the lipstick.

Look wearing Chambor 'Silk Touch lipstick' #670 'Silk Woods'

Final Verdict : These are the most moisturizing and pigmented lipsticks I have come across with amazingly soft texture and good staying power. Anybody who likes creamy lipsticks must own at least one of these.

Will I repurchase this: Most definitely Yes! Also in some other shade.

Rating: 4.75 ( -0.25 for the packaging )
