The Body Shop Vitamin E Face mist REVIEW

Hi everyone!

Today I’m reviewing a product that has become a staple in my everyday makeup routine. My skin goes through cycles of normal /combination/ oily and dry weather or AC environments tend to dehydrate my skin especially around the nose and mouth. Generally after applying compact I would notice some dry patches of my face but skipping compact would make my skin oily after some time.

To solve this problem, I used rosewater spray on my face after completing my makeup (by filling up rose water in an empty Lotus Basiltone spray bottle). That did help to some extent but I’d generally end up with more than required rosewater on my face. I almost bought MAC Fix+ on visits to the MAC Store many times but couldn’t bring myself to spend Rs 800 on a facial mist! Finally, I picked up this cheaper alternative to MAC Fix+ from The Body Shop on a recent visit home with my Mum.

The Body Shop Vitamin E facial mist

The Body Shop facial mists come in 2 ranges- The Vitamin E one priced at Rs 595 and The Vitamin C one priced at Rs 745.

My take on the product :

Packaging :  It comes in a pretty baby pink colored plastic bottle with a pump spray at the top. The spray part is covered with a transparent plastic cap. The packaging is quite sturdy and the cap fits well over the pump. I’ve traveled with it and I did not face any problem.  The spray does not give a wet shower on you face- held at the right distance, it gives just the right amount of product. The one is that the body is opaque so I have no idea how much product I’m using or how much is left.

Fragrance : It has a light rosewater fragrance which is quite refreshing. The fragrance fades within 2-3 minutes of application.

About the mist : The product is watery, like rose water and does not make the skin the oily or greasy on spraying. I generally spray it on my face after completing my makeup and it removes the powdery look I tend to get after applying compact sometimes. It gives a dewy hydrated look to my face and settles my makeup. I use 2 spritzes on my face- one on the left and one on the right so that my entire face is covered. I’ve used this and gone out in the sun and my face still looks fresh after 3-4 hours outside. I use it sometimes to moisten brushes for wet application of eye shadows or on foundation brush while applying foundation and it works well. I have not used MAC Fix+ so don’t know it compares to it but I love this product ! I use this everyday before I step out and I love the healthy look it gives to my skin.

The GOOD about The Body Shop Vitamin E facial mist :

1. Packaging is pretty and sturdy- Travel friendly, hygienic and easy to use.

2. Pump is quite good and dispenses a light mist over the face when held at proper distance.

3. Refreshing rose water fragrance that diffuses after a few minutes.

4. Removes powdery or dehydrated look from the face.

5. Gives a dewy healthy look to my skin- does not make it oily or greasy.

6. Settles my makeup.

7.Can be used to wet eye shadows or to moisten brushes/sponges while applying makeup.

The NOT-SO-GOOD about The Body Shop Vitamin E facial mist :

1. Packaging is opaque so can’t see how much product is getting consumed.

2. EXPENSIVE! I love this product but I’m hoping one bottle would last me the summers.

3. Contains parabens.

Overall Verdict: It is a light watery facial mist infused with rosewater fragrance that gives a healthy dewy moisturized look to the skin and settles the makeup. It is must-have for me in the summers especially because heavy moisturizing or skipping compact makes my skin greasy but compact topped with this spray helps it stay hydrated and non-greasy for a long time. The scent is quite refreshing and fades within few minutes. Would have preferred transparent packaging so that one can have an idea how much product is being consumed.  Can be used to moisten brushes/sponges for wet application of products. It is definitely better than plain rose water but I don’t know how it compares with MAC Fix+.

I am very happy with this product and would recommend it to everyone. It’ll work well with all skin types. I do find it a little expensive but I’m hoping this one bottle would last me the summer after which I wouldn’t need it.

Rating : 4.5/5 (for reasons listed above)

Will I repurchase : Yes, for next summers.

  1. Hi..

Was wondering if this can be used over compacts like MAC Studio Fix POwder…

    • Hi Poornima, it can be used over anything. Just spritz it over the face once you’re done with your makeup. I removes the powdery look that compact gives to the skin sometimes.

    • If you dont mind,:D Poornima, Everybody I know, or on youtube says that Studio Fix Powder foundation HAS to be set with a spray like this of Fix+ 🙂
Cause thats one foundation that looks cakey otherwise.

  2. OMG You just described Fix+ with a different fragrance! and I spent 900 Rs on it. 😐

  3. Thanks for the post Ankita. I was actually searching for something similar to Fix+

  4. ankita…nice review 🙂
sure will give this a try…i purchased a new compact which is giving me kinda powdery, cakey look…guess this might help :)) thanks :))

  5. Ikku recommended this over fix+ after reading your review ankita… 🙂 do you have to re spray it during the day?

    • I don’t spend more than 4 hours outdoors…I don’t need a re spray in that time. I’m guessing its pretty similar to Fix+, you’ll be saving 300 Rs with this 🙂

      • I don’t spend time outdoors… but the whole day out of home… my makeup gets oily in a couple of hours…. 😦

        • I don’t think it’ll help in controlling oil itself but it’ll help other oil controlling primer/powder stay put longer. Sometime during the day, you can cleanse your face with a wet wipe, reapply compact and spritz this on your face, you’ll get a moisturized and fresh look and feel.

  6. dhanaaayaaabaad!!!!

  7. thanx for the review ankita..ill defntly try this one out …. as im always waiting for makeup to set… at times i aplly it wayyy earlier before going out just so that it sets…
maybe with this one i wint have to wait 😀

  8. greattt…ankita…i will def try it in the store… !!!! had my eyes set on max fix+
